About YMAA Western Mass

YMAA Western Mass describes itself as a Tai Chi community of practice where all are welcomed to contribute to our safe and nurturing space. We adhere closely to the practice methods of the YMAA and engage in traditional Tai Chi Chu’an training. As an injury averse group, we focus on the martial side of the art as a way to deepen mind body experience and focus less on self-defense.

Jeff Rosen
Jeff Rosen
Taijiquan 5th Rank
Jeff began his study of Tai Chi in 1982 and joined the YMAA as a full-time student of Dr. Yang in 1990. He was certified as a YMAA instructor in 1996. Jeff is forever grateful for the sanctuary Tai Chi provides and encourages everyone to study the depths of the practice as a pathway to humility and as an antidote to the rampant noise of our daily lives. He adheres to Dr. Yang’s guidance that the depth of the art lies in the feeling and recognizes from long, personal experience that it is much easier to be drawn to inspiring platitudes than it is to practice them.
