About Urban Qi FIT-YMAA

Urban Qi FIT-YMAA is located in the heart of Harlem, New York at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church where we have reside for nearly 20 years. Its main demographic are adults and seniors interested in sustaining their health, mobility, and self-reliance through the disciplines of Taijiquan and Qigong. In addition to being a YMAA Branch School teaching Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming’s Yang Family Style Taijiquan and a variety of Qigong, Urban Qi FIT offers a rich selection of other Qigong practices (Mantak Chia’s Healing Tao, Master Wang Qingyu’s Jin Jing Shisi Shi Qigong) as well as Dr. Paul Lam’s evidence-based and modified Sun Style Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention. Intrinsic to all of these is Urban Qi FIT’s emphasis of the fundamentals, basics, root embodied in its logo which depicts the Chinese character, 根 Gēn. At Urban Qi FIT, all are welcome regardless of gender or experience. We encourage students to help each other learn and grow based on the longstanding Harlem Prep maxim, “Each one, teach one!”
