Seminar: Applied Taiji Pushing Hands & Martial Applications
Learning how to apply Taijiquan deepens one’s appreciation of the art. This seminar will highlight martial applications built from Double Push Hands (Cross Hands) and Free Style Push Hands (Parallel Hands). Double Push Hands is a foundational 2-person drill that teaches structure and neutralization skills. It has 6 techniques that lead to many applications. Free Style Push Hands is the synthesis of many principles in Taijiquan. Its reactive improvisational nature is a necessary guide to actually applying Taijiquan principles. From these drills a vast number of techniques are possible.
Students will learn
- Taiji martial applications
- How to apply martial techniques from Pushing Hands
- Structure, root and flow in the practice of the techniques
- How to move beyond the choreography and bring the practice to life
Leading the seminar is Jeffrey Pratt, a recognized instructor by YMAA International. Mr. Pratt has been practicing Taijiquan since 1987. He has taught and competed in Taijiquan nationally and internationally. A national champion and grand champion in Pushing Hands. He shares his love of the art and experience with everyone in the seminar.
